Sun Valley...the ultimate ski experience boasts two fabulous mountains, Baldy, considered by serious skiers as the country's single best ski mountain, and Dollar, a beginner's paradise with gentle, sunny slopes, groomed to perfection.

Eighteen lifts provide access to more than 77 ski runs and 2,054 skiable acres. With the addition of seven new high-speed detachable quad chairlifts, Sun Valley's lift capacity reaches 28,180 skiers per hour servicing 36 percent "easiest," 42 percent "more difficult," and 22 percent "most difficult" terrain.

Sun Valley built the world's first chairlift, adapted in design from a machine used to load bananas onto cargo ships--no kidding! Still and silent now, forlorn single chairs dangle on Rudd Mountain above Trail Creek Cabin. Ever since then, the mountains of the area are continually upgraded with the latest in skier comfort and speed; today's detachable high-speed quads quickly transport visitors through the crisp mountain air allowing for more skiing within the day.
