Sugarloaf USA
Overview
Sugarloaf USA, in Western Maine, otherwise known as 'The Loaf', is not to be confused with Sugarbush, Vermont. The range is large by New England standards, with 72km of trails and a vertical drop of 2,800ft. Because it faces north across the Canadian border, it has a good snow record, but can be distinctly chilly. It gets sunnier – and more popular – at Spring time. Unusually for an East Coast resort, it has skiing 100 acres above the tree-line, as well as 500 acres of more traditional wooded trails. There are good runs for all grades, but with its low temperatures and challenging terrain, The Loaf favours hard-core skiers
