Tokyo
It's not a ski resort, but this is an essential stopover destination for anyone looking to explore the Japanese ski fields!
Overview
We decided to include Tokyo in our list of Japanese resorts as we can't imagine any ski trip to Japan that isn't enhanced by a stopover in Tokyo, however short!
After the long-haul flight from London you'll most likely want to adjust and recover from the jet-lag before skiing. What better place than the World's largest city... There's so much to do here that you could easily book-end a week's skiing with 2 days in Tokyo at the beginning of your trip and 2 days at the end.
Tokyo is mind-blowing on so many levels. The almost infinite skyscrapers of the enormous city-centre seem to go on forever, with surprises at every turn. From the seemingly inpenetrable metro and rail networks, via the endless street-food outlets and numerous arts and cultural diversions. Highlights include Teamlab Planets, an immersive sensory experience like no other, and Standing Sushi, where the freshest Sashimi is served by hand and there are no seats!
This is one city that has to be seen to be believed.
