Alleghe

With road links to world-famous Cortina, Alleghe makes for a cheap base from which to exploit what its neighbour has to offer. Sat beside a beautiful lake and with Mount Civetta to ski on, Alleghe has direct access to 80km of runs. Add to that 110km at Cortina and you'll find plenty of skiing available, mostly at intermediate and beginner levels. You may want a car here, so you can get out and try the other ski areas. This is extremely worthwhile with the massive 'Dolomiti Superski' pass, which gives you access to over 1000km of runs in countless resorts.
