Hintertux
Overview
Much of Europe's glacier skiing tends to be on the tame side, but the Tuxer Glacier – with skiing as high as 3,250m – provides good, steep, challenging slopes for intermediates and advanced skiers and boarders all year round. It is the best known out of a group of European glacier resorts that attract national ski teams, anxious to train during the summer months. But its winter attractions should not be underestimated – during poor snow years in the rest of the Zillertal, Hintertux can almost always be relied upon to come to the rescue. You will search in vain for a village called Tux – the base community is made up of the villages of Lanersbach, Juns, Madseit and Hintertux.
