Description
Renovated December 2008, the New Sheridan Hotel melds Victorian design with modern conveniences. Originally built 1895, the New Sheridan is recognized as a historic landmark hotel by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The hotel houses Telluride’s oldest bar and the New Sheridan Chophouse, which specializes in prime meats and seafood. The Parlor, a lobby cafe, serves all meals.
In winter, the hotel provides complimentary ski storage with boot warmers. Two rooftop spa tubs are available year-round. Spa services are also available on site. Complimentary Internet access is available on a lobby computer.
Self parking is complimentary; valet parking is available for a fee.
The hotel has 26 guestrooms and suites. Amenities include Egyptian cotton linens, flat-screen LCD TVs, and high-speed wired and wireless Internet access (surcharge). Rooms also have iPod docks and coffee/tea makers. Bathrooms come with heated floors and bathrobes
DINING:
New Sheridan Chophouse - Specializing in prime meats and fresh seafood, this bistro-style restaurant serves New American cuisine for nightly dinner and Sunday brunch. Outdoor dining is available seasonally.
Historic New Sheridan Bar - The oldest bar in Telluride, with mahogany wall paneling, ornate light fixtures, and period-style decor. Cocktails and light fare are served from midday until late evening.

About Telluride
Ranked one of North America's top ten ski areas by both SKI and Skiing magazines, Telluride Ski Resort is recognized internationally as a premier ski and snowboard destination. Located in the San Juan Mountains of SW Colorado, the resort maintains its Wild West heritage, while enjoying some of the most beautiful scenery in the Rockies. Not the biggest domain, Telluride is made up of two recently-linked bases - the old town and the newer Mountain Village up the hill. However, the rapidly expanding resort has recently grown by nearly 400 acres and has 30km of beautiful cross-country trails.
The skiing is well-known to favour experts, with good moguls and a big vertical drop (960m). Intermediates have fine groomed pistes, though limited in number, while beginners have excellent runs at Mountain Village (The Meadows). On January 16, 2010, the resort also opened a new ski and snowboard terrain park and superpipe that is open daily and lighted in the evenings (Thursdays through Sundays).
The region receives on average more than 300 inches of snow annually and offers more than 2,000 skiable acres with 300 days yearly sunshine. On the downside, there isn't that much off the snow to do, but the range of restaurants is excellent (less so on-piste), as is the accommodation on offer. Overall, a resort considered better for experts, born out by the ski school offering mogul tuition and guiding. It's a beautiful venue that remains widely unheralded by major brochures.
