Overview

There's a bright, inviting feel from the reception to the bedrooms, with lots of plants and a green colour scheme to match the name – grün is German for green. And in the dining room, there are wall-to-ceiling windows, so you can enjoy the snowy scenery while you munch.

You’ll get a varied spread to start each day, with all the breakfast faves from cereal and fruit to eggs and bacon. Then in the evening, it’s a case of east meets west, with Moroccan-style dishes, like flatbread, dips and lamb skewers, sitting alongside local Austrian fare. Everything's served buffet-style, so grab a plate and fill up on whatever you fancy.

When you’re not up the mountain or tucking in at mealtimes, pop by the hotel bar for an après tipple and a natter by the fire. And when it’s time to unwind, slip on a fluffy bathrobe, and pad down to the spa for a spell in the sauna or a few leisurely laps of the pool.

About Kaprun

Bus-linked to Zell am See, Kaprun makes up part of the Europa Sport region, with 130km of pistes, 50 of which are local. Like its neighbour, Kaprun is a year-round resort, with the Kitzsteinhorn glacier and lots of summer pursuits (golf, climbing, water sports). Unlike the bigger Zell, Kaprun is a traditional Austrian village, with a decent selection of restaurants and accommodation. It has quieter nightlife, but its still pretty fun and varied. Its skiing is mainly for beginners, intermediates and cross-country, while experts don't receive extensive attention. Kaprun is great all year round, but for more varied skiing, it is worth exploring some of the other nearby terrain, such as Saalbach and Schladming.
