Perisher Blue
Overview
Perisher Blue is Australia's largest linked ski area. This is the result of a buy-up by Perisher/Smiggin Holes of the country's newest ski area, Blue Cow, which itself had absorbed one of the oldest, Guthega. So as you tour the area, you are presented with wonderfully contrasting scenarios, from state-of-the-art to state-of-the-ark! This is not so say that Guthega's lifts are unsafe – just quaint. There is a wealth of skiing here, particularly on the old Blue Cow/Guthega slopes, which tend to be higher and steeper than those of Perisher. Perisher's own slopes make you feel as though you're skiing in a valley rather than on a mountain. Big area, but relatively small vertical drop of 1227ft.
