Mount Washington Resort
Overview
Mount Washington Alpine Resort boasts one of the most spectacular coastal alpine settings in North America. Located on Vancouver Island off the west coast of Canada, this unique island ski resort treats visitors to a wide choice of alpine accommodation and the perfect combination of rugged west coast beauty and vast depths of all-natural snow. In fact, Mount Washington, B.C. maintains a consistent record for the deepest natural snowpack in Canada, with an average annual snowfall of 10.5 meters (over 34 feet!) and was awarded ‘Best Powder’ by Ski Canada Magazine (2008).
Mount Washington has 1700 acres of amazing downhill terrain with ocean views, two great terrain parks, a snow-tubing park, nine lifts (including a high speed six pack and a high speed quad) and night skiing. With 60 trails and a gladed ski area, the resort offers varied terrain that everyone from beginner to pro freeskiers can ride. Mount Washington also boasts Canada’s first over and back chairlift, the Boomerang, bringing lift access to incredible black and double black diamond backside terrain. Add an average ambient temperature of -3C and it’s easy to see why islanders want to keep Mount Washington a secret!
Mount Washington Resort also provides guests with one of the top-rated Nordic experiences in North America, with over 55 km (34 miles) of world-class machine groomed cross-country trails around the resort and through scenic park lands. Bordering Strathcona Provincial Park, Mount Washington remains unspoilt and uncrowded, particularly mid-week and had a good ski school and childcare.
A variety of on-mountain ski-in/ski-out accommodation is available and the resort is located only 30 minutes from the Comox Valley, where there are many options for dining, shopping and activities.
