Serre Chevalier is one of the biggest ski areas in Europe, “Le Grand Serre Che” is: 250 kilometres of ski-runs among larch forest, between 1,200 and 2,800 metres above sea level, for everyone from beginners to experts!
Serre Chevalier is a big south-facing valley, between the Col du Lautaret and Briançon with 13 villages dotted along it going from ultra-modern hamlets to old-style villages.
Serre Chevalier means a wide range of activities for everyone and for all the family: sport, fun, culture, relaxation. There's something in Serre Che for everyone!
Serre Chevalier is at the foot of the most beautiful peaks in the Ecrins National Park, an area full of light. The air and water there are pure and unpolluted, the sky is blue, and the sun shines more than 300 days per year.
Serre Chevalier also means a very rich heritage which has come down through its History. It is the guarantee of the cultural identity of the area.
Serre Chevalier is also the most northerly of the southern resorts. Friendliness and a relaxed approach are indispensable qualities which your hosts will be sure to share with you.

AN AUTHENTIC AND FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE:
There is a warm and friendly vibe in the Guisane Valley, where everyone knows each other and says hello. The Valley is like a little country of its own, inhabited all year round, and opening up to tourism when necessary, without losing any of its traditions. The local people remain fairly discreet and serene, giving you a friendly welcome, and the feeling that in the Guisane Valley you're more of a guest than a tourist.
Serre Chevalier doesn't have the insipid feel of a ready made resort -it still feels unspoilt and authentic here. It's a high Alpine valley, and the perfect place for sport and skiing in a laid back, traditional atmosphere. You can go for a vin chaud in a bistrot in Le Bez, buy your baguette in Les Guibertes, have an evening meal up in Serre Barbin and Monetier, or simply stroll through the picturesque narrow streets of the region. |
| High Accolades |
Serre Chevalier offers 115 runs (of which more than 50% are advanced and expert). There are gentle slopes of a hundred meters to a couple of kilometers such as "La Briance" or the "Fréjus". For a more challenging run there is the La Casse du Bœuf, Le tabuc or l'Olympique Luc Alphand with a thousand meters of vertical drop. For the ones who prefer wild nature, check out the famous "Vallons de la Cucumelle" or the wild slopes of "Le Col du Vent" or "Le Cibouït". You can choose to do night skiing on Vauban run (2km) or on mickey one.

A meeting which no driver can afford to miss, the Ronde Hivernale has been much more successful than expected, with the visit of the Monte Carlo Rally in the 1980s, which drew in more than 20,000 spectators. The Track wanted to give all those who are both winter sports and old car enthusiasts a special, historical version of the Ronde Hivernale in the spirit of the time when it started. For this second " historical " version, prepared in collaboration with the Retro Club Briançonnais, we are offering all the enthusiasts not only a time trial but also a road section, and for the keenest competitors; a timed sprint.

The Big Area
| The downhill runs are on the slopes above the right bank of the River Guisane, which is a sort of huge plateau, generally facing north, which ends after the Pic du Prorel (2572 m) whence it slopes down towards Briançon. Wooded with superb hundred-year-old larches, this ski area is composed of smaller and larger valleys, with some bumpy runs and others that are wide open, offering skiing conditions that are exciting, and, above all, very varied: from the large snow fields near the summit, you ski down from one slope to another, and in the middle of the forest they seem much smaller, crossing or disappearing. Everybody finds something to enjoy!
The whole of the ski area is accessible without taking off one's skis!
Your ski-pass is in the pocket! In Serre Chevalier, with your ski-pass, you have your hands free! Once you've got your ski-pass, you don't need to show it to the inspectors! An electronic chip automatically opens the access gates.
