Ski & Snowboard Instructor Training in NZ

Mad about snow and thinking of taking a career break or a Gap year? Then why not head down-under this summer to New Zealand and join one of the Ski & Snowboard Instructor Training Co. courses?

New Zealand is a land of adventure with abundant mountains, a thriving snowsports industry and an unrivalled lifestyle.

And with the New Zealand based Ski & Snowboard Instructor Training Co you can enjoy what New Zealand has to offer while training for a worldwide recognised ski or snowboard instructor qualification:

The NZSIA Stage 1 qualification

Originally set up by scot, Colin Tanner and kiwi, Gavin McAuliffe, the Ski & Snowboard Instructor Training Co, run courses that not only include a straight forward training program but also include freestyle and racing elements, an avalanche awareness course and a heli-ski/board day. More importantly though, you will get to enjoy the NZ experience.

The courses run in the "summer" months (June - Sept) and are based in the beautiful South Island setting of Queenstown, New Zealand - 'the adventure capital of the South'.

The Ski & Snowboard Instructor Training Co
Here's a little background info on how Colin Tanner first became involved in ski instructing before setting up the Ski & Snowboard Instructor Training Co.

Colin Tanner first went to New Zealand 9 years ago after skiing with Gavin McAuliffe (a kiwi) in Austria for the season and then again in Val d'Isere. Gavin convinced him that he would love the skiing in New Zealand, and he wasn't wrong. In that first season - based in Queenstown - he started his Ski Instructing career following training from the Coronet Peak Snowsports School, and through the NZSIA (New Zealand Snowsports Instructors Alliance) where he gained his first ever ski instructor qualification - the NZSIA Stage 1.

Over the following years he then trained for his NZSIA Stage 2 and for his Test Capacite (Euro speed test).

After passing this test he then started working in France and after a few years of experience and further training, he found himself being accepted as a NZSIA Examiner. And to complete his training he also then entered the BASI system and achieved his Grade 1 (International Ski Teacher Diploma).

The next step was the launch of 'the development centre' www.tdcski.com, in Val d'isere and then the Ski & Snowboard Instructor Training Co which he set up with Gavin McAuliffe in 2002 in order to give other keen skiers and boarders the same opportunities that they had, had.

Just recently Colin has also been chosen as a BASI Trainer.
